Feeling peckish? Read our guide to the best restaurants in Cornwall

Cornwall is jam-packed (no cream tea pun intended) full of fantastic restaurants, cafes and take-aways. Here’s our guide to the best places to eat in Cornwall right now, according to a well-known review site.*

1. Lakeside Cabin Cafe

Nance Fishing Lakes, Nance Lakes, Lelant, St Ives TR26 3EZ

This café, with lovely views over the beautiful Nance fishing lakes near St Ives, offers a great breakfast – perfect if you’re enjoying a bit of camping in Cornwall. Serving British café food, including vegetarian options, you can relax in the café garden with your cream tea.

“Definitely a hidden gem of a place…a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and we thoroughly enjoyed our toasted sandwich and cream tea, which was the best cream tea I have ever had by far! We went back later in the week for breakfast and were not disappointed.”

2. Ben’s Crib Box Cafe

South Quay, Padstow PL28 8BL, England

Another café scores next to the top spot for reviews – this time on South Quay in Padstow. Perfect if you’re on your caravan holidays in Cornwall, this small café with vegetarian options offers a lovely place to eat in Cornwall plus it’s dog friendly, open for breakfast or lunchtime snacks.
“Just good grub…consistently delivers – attentive staff and a real local vibe. Padstow’s little treasure.”.
“For breakfast or a lunchtime snack just great. We had omelettes which came beautifully cooked and super stuffed full of cheese ham and mushrooms with a nice fresh salad. Fast and friendly service and very very clean and neat…. very good value for money. Thanks.”

3. Nice Baps

Three Holes Cross Layby, Wadebridge PL27 6EL, England

This cafe probably scores best for the most memorable name! Another fast food café, this friendly café in Cornwall offers vegetarian friendly food with vegan options and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch.

“Stopped in when passing this week and were so glad we did. This is an absolute gem of a place!! The food was excellent value and excellent quality but what really made the place was the team working there. So very welcoming and accommodating.”

“I’m a local and had heard so much about this place and it not only didn’t fail to impress it blew me away. Absolutely delicious burger but that wasn’t the star of the show… The owners are incredible – incredible hosts and incredible people for what they are doing in the community to help those less fortunate. I will certainly be returning and long may they continue with their selfless work.”

4. Edie’s Kitchen

10 Beach Road, Carlyon Bay, St Austell PL25 3PH, England

If you want to try one of the best restaurants in Cornwall, head to Edie’s Kitchen in St Austell for a fabulous range of food, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

“As soon as we walked through the door we were transported into an outstanding restaurant. I have to say, it was excellent in all areas: the welcome, service, efficiency, friendliness, menu choices, ingredients, presentation of food, the small additions, and finally the very reasonable cost. We can only comment on the schnitzel and the fricassee, and coffee, but if the quality of those 2 dishes is anything to compare, I have faith that others would be just as good. Genuinely, I envy the locals.”

5. One Fish Street

1 Fish Street, St Ives TR26 1LT, England

If it’s seafood you’re after, then One Fish Street in St Ives attracts the best reviews. This classy restaurant in Cornwall serves lunch and dinner and also offers a special tasting menu.

“As foodies, it’s rare for us to firstly write a review and secondly, give 10/10 for every course. Bradley has a unique talent of marrying flavours as experienced in all 8 courses of his fabulous tasting menu. Our taste buds were truly tantalised and teased.”

“We had the tasting menu and, as advised, tiny portions were brought. Every mouthful was delicious – a variety of flavours and textures, all sensational. Not a place to eat if you are really hungry! But if you appreciate real skill, this is well worth a visit.”

6. Le Snack

4 Foundry Street, Wadebridge PL27 7NW

Back to fast food, Le Snack in Wadebridge offers a range of tasty British dishes including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

“I picked up a couple of panini’s today – bacon, brie & cranberry, utterly delicious. It was no trouble to add some brown sauce to my friend’s veggie option. Really friendly service, great prices. Highly recommend for a take out lunch.”

7. The Wheel House – Fish restaurant

Wheel House Upton Slip, Falmouth TR11 3DQ

This specialist fish restaurant in Cornwall is a great place to eat in Cornwall. With gluten free options, you can enjoy daily caught shellfish served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere here.

“The restaurant is small, beautiful, welcoming, super friendly staff and just all round fab! The food comes up as its cooked, the food is super fresh and perfect in size in that it leaves you feeling full but it’s so good you could order more!”

8. Mad Hatters

The Platt, Wadebridge PL27 7AE

This ‘quirky’ little café in Wadebridge is a great place for a quick coffee and cake stop whilst enjoying a bit of retail therapy. The scones are highly recommended!

“Off-chance visit that will definitely be repeated. Welcoming and cosy. Staff are friendly, good-humoured and provide excellent service. Thoroughly recommend a visit here.”

9. The Fish House – Fistral

Headland Road, Unit 5 International Surf Centre, Fistral Beach, Newquay TR7 1EW,

Paul Harwood’s Fish House is located on Fistral Beach in Newquay and features locally caught fish and shellfish caught straight from Newquay harbour. One of the best fish restaurants in Cornwall.
“Had excellent meals here several times. Great fresh fish with the wow taste and good-sized portions. Lovely atmosphere. Never disappoints.”

10. The Olive Tree

1 Crossroads, St Merryn, Padstow PL28 8NF

This small, informal restaurant in Cornwall serves serving simple but delicious food in relaxed surroundings. The seasonal menu takes advantage of the fantastic selection of fish and seafood, meat, fruit and vegetables available, a perfect accompaniment to your glamping holiday in Cornwall!

“The food and the service were excellent. Flo was a brilliant hostess, will have no hesitation in going again and recommending it to friends. Not pretentious unlike most of the eateries in Padstow. The menu was also reasonably priced. A big well done to you both.”
