From this part of winter onwards their food supply is running low and they need a helping hand. The fat from the turkey is a BIG NO for birds, as it stays runny when cool and can smear their feathers causing problems, but left over goose fat or other more solid types is great mixed with seeds and left out in a bowl for them to have a festive high energy feast.
