The Olympic Torch starts its journey from Lands End in Cornwall
Lands End in Cornwall at 5 am on Saturday 19th May 2012. The children were not too enthusiastic to be coaxed from their warm beds and onto the cliffs at Sennen Cove, then along to Lands End. But by the time they got there, the crowds were building up , the sun was shining and their enthusiasm was returning. The helicopter from Culdrose airbase appeared on the horizon by 7am and landed at Lands End. A container with the original flame was unloaded and the first of the torch relay team had their torch lit. The crowd cheered as the runners lit the next torch in the chain, that led to the rest of the UK.
